Megargy Newsletter Service
You publish great content. We email your readers.
Publish articles on your website. Megargy automatically prepares a weekly newsletter from your new articles and sends it to your subscribers. There is no separate newsletter for you to write, assemble or send.
Ideal for content marketing. Megargy puts the articles you already publish in front of customers and prospects who have chosen to hear from you, with links back to your website.
An example email
Each email lists your new articles, with titles, summaries, authors, dates and links to the full articles on your website.
The standard template works especially well with articles written in the inverted pyramid style, where the opening paragraph summarises the key points.
An email newsletter should not be another publishing job.
An interested reader should not have to keep checking your website for new articles. Email gives them a convenient way to follow your work.
For you, though, a newsletter can become another recurring task: selecting articles, copying links, assembling an email and remembering to send it.
You have already written the content. Megargy takes care of preparing and sending the newsletter.
Set it up once. Keep publishing as usual.
- Connect your website. Connect the article feed that Megargy will use to find your publications.
- Choose your settings. Set your weekly sending schedule and customise the newsletter’s appearance.
- Keep publishing. Megargy checks for new articles, prepares the newsletter and sends it to your subscribers automatically.
Give your readers a simple way to subscribe
Add a Subscribe link to your website. Readers follow it to your Megargy-hosted signup page, where they can join your mailing list.
Readers enter their details and confirm their email address before joining the active mailing list.
Custom sending domains, included as standard
We strongly recommend sending your newsletter from your organisation’s own domain, using an address such as update@newsletter.acme.com. Custom sending domains are a core feature of Megargy Newsletter Service—not a premium extra or a reason to upgrade your subscription.
We send newsletters through Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon SES). When you use a custom sending domain, your newsletter uses your organisation’s own sending address.
Mailing list management
Preparing the newsletter is only part of the job. Megargy also manages subscriptions and email failures, while you retain control of your list.
Protected signups and confirmed subscribers
Signup forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to help prevent automated abuse.
Readers must confirm their email address before joining the active mailing list. This mandatory double opt-in helps prevent unwanted subscriptions.
Straightforward unsubscribing
Each newsletter provides an unsubscribe link. Megargy processes requests automatically and stops subsequent newsletter sends to that subscriber.
Automatic bounce and complaint handling
Permanent failures (hard bounces) and spam complaints stop further sends to the affected address. Temporary failures, known as soft bounces, receive separate handling.
Useful history when an email goes missing
Check when the receiving mail server accepted a newsletter, or whether a delay or failure was reported. This gives you somewhere to start when a reader reports a missing email.
A mailing list you can take with you
Download your subscribers as CSV for your records or a move to another service.
A few practical questions
Will this work with my website?
Your website needs a compatible RSS or Atom feed, which lists the articles you publish. Megargy reads that feed, so you can keep your existing website and publishing process.
Many popular website and blogging tools support RSS or Atom feeds, including WordPress, Wix Blog and Ghost. Static site generators such as Hugo, Jekyll and Eleventy can generate these feeds too.
This is often called RSS-to-email. Your readers do not need to know anything about RSS to subscribe.
Does Megargy support custom sending domains?
Yes. Megargy Newsletter Service supports custom sending domains, and we strongly recommend using one. Send your newsletter from an address such as update@newsletter.acme.com, using your organisation’s domain rather than a Megargy address.
We use a dedicated newsletter subdomain to limit the sending permission you grant us, rather than requesting permission across your main company domain.
You do not need to create a separate mailbox or an additional Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace user to send your newsletter. The newsletter address is a sending identity, not an inbox; Megargy sends through Amazon SES using your authorised domain.
Setup involves adding five DNS records at your DNS provider: three CNAME records for DKIM authentication, one TXT record for SPF authentication, and one MX record for handling bounced emails. Megargy provides the record names and values. These help receiving email providers verify that your newsletter is authorised by your organisation.
This setup supports DMARC authentication. Your domain’s DMARC policy is configured separately and may already cover the newsletter subdomain.
Read more about why we use a dedicated sending subdomain.
Do custom sending domains cost extra?
No. Custom sending domains are included as standard, not reserved for a higher-priced subscription. We consider sending from your own domain a core newsletter feature, not a premium extra.
How does Megargy help my newsletter reach subscribers’ inboxes?
Megargy is new; the email infrastructure behind it is not. We send newsletters through Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon SES), part of Amazon Web Services (AWS), rather than operating our own email-sending network.
Good sending practices matter too. Megargy requires subscribers to confirm their email address, provides straightforward unsubscribing, and automatically handles bounces and spam complaints. We also strongly recommend using your organisation’s own sending domain, which is included as standard. Our custom-domain setup includes SPF and DKIM authentication, helping receiving email providers verify that we are authorised to send your newsletter.
No email service can guarantee that every message reaches the inbox. Your sending reputation, newsletter content and each recipient’s email provider also affect the outcome.
Does the content have to be public?
Yes. The articles included in your newsletter must be publicly available on your website. Megargy does not support private feeds or content created solely for distribution by email.
Can I write a separate newsletter in Megargy?
No. You write and publish on your website; Megargy prepares and sends the newsletter automatically. There is no separate newsletter editor and no support for one-off email campaigns.
You can customise your newsletter’s appearance and sending settings, but its content comes from the articles you publish on your website.
What happens when I do not publish anything new?
No new articles means no newsletter that week. There is no empty email to send and no schedule to pause.
Will it send my old articles when I first activate it?
No. Megargy records the articles already in your feed when you activate the newsletter. Those form the starting point; they are not sent as a backlog.
How does Megargy recognise new articles?
Megargy keeps a record of the articles it has already encountered and checks subsequent feed updates against that record to identify new ones.
Request early access
Do you publish articles, news or professional commentary on your website and want to share them by email?
We’re inviting early adopters to try Megargy Newsletter Service and help shape its development. You’re welcome whether you’re starting your first newsletter or already sending one.
If you already use a newsletter tool, you can try Megargy alongside it with colleagues and a few close customers. Share the Megargy-hosted signup form directly with them, leaving your website’s existing signup unchanged. This lets you get a feel for the emails and assess the service’s reliability.
Email support@megargy.com with your website address and a brief description of the newsletter you would like to offer.
All newsletters include a discreet “Powered by Megargy” link in the footer.
